Video previews of Safety In Action speakers online
A selection of speakers at next month's Safety In Action Conference have recorded YouTube videos discussing Australia's occupational health and safety challenges.
The line-up includes WorkSafe executive director John Merritt, Federal Safety Commissioner Helen Marshall, psychologist Dr Martyn Newman, WorkSafe Victoria workplace support and education division manager Jill McCabe, and National OHS Review panel member and lawyer Barry Sherriff.
Interviewed in February by Safety Institute of Australia (Victoria Division) member and freelance journalist, Kevin Jones, the five speakers canvass both the big picture and the human face of safety, discussing everything from safety leadership through to the hazards they personally faced in their first jobs.
Safety In Action Conference chair Phil Kamay said the YouTube videos, which can be accessed via the conference website at www.siaconference.com.au, allow potential delegates to sample the calibre of the speakers who will address delegates in Melbourne.
Other high profile presenters set to take the stage include Professor Michael Quinlan, author of a 422-page expert investigation into OHS management at the Beaconsfield Joint Venture Gold Mine, businesswoman Janet Holmes à Court and the CEO of Downer EDI, Geoff Knox. The keynote speakers will headline a program of 72 local and international experts addressing 12 themes over three days.
